Syros is the island of the elegant architecture, the artistic vibe and the lovely beaches. It belongs to the Cyclades complex and its capital, Ermoupolis, is also considered as the administrative centre of the Cyclades.

Normal Ferries:
Syros is connected to the mainland of Greece through two ports: the port of Piraeus (4 h by normal ferry) and the port of Thessaloniki, northen Greece (18 hours by normal ferry).

Normal ferries also connect Syros to some Aegean islands, in particular Amorgos (5 h to Aegiali and 7 h to Katapola), Andros (3 and 1/2 h), Folegandros (6 h), Ios (5 h), Heraklion Crete (12 h), Samos (7 h to Karlovasi), Kythnos (2 and 1/2 h), Leros (3 and 1/2 h), Mykonos (1 and 1/2 h), Milos (8 h), Naxos (3 h), Paros (1 and 1/2 h), Patmos (3 h), Rhodes (8 h), Serifos (4 h), Sifnos (5 h), Skiathos (9 h), Skopelos (8 h) and Santorini (7 h). In summer, more destinations are added and include even smaller islands, such as Sikinos (5 h), Schinoussa (9 h) and Donousa (6 h).

Hydrofoils:
In summer, regular hydrofoils connect Syros to Tinos (40 min) and Mykonos (1 h).
