Departure on Piraeus map
Introduction:
Aegean Speed Lines was established in 2005 in Glyfada, Athens. Its first vessel was a foreign catamaran which was used to link Piraeus to Western Cyclades and Paros. In 2006, Paros was excluded from the schedule and in 2007, along with the Wetsern Cyclades, the company vessel also traveled to Folegandros. Today, Aegean Speed Lines and its vessel "Speedrunner II", serves the islands of Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos, Milos, Kimolos and Folegandros. The social service that the company provides to society is important, as these small islands remain almost remote in winter, so they need a frequent and reliable ship to connect them to each other or the capital of Greece. Also, through a good transportation, summer tourism on the islands, an important source of income for the inhabitants, is increased and the quality of life gets improved.
