Ferries from Piraeus to Serifos depart daily and the trip is not long, about 2-3 hours. These ferries connect Serifos to other islands of Western Cyclades, such as Kythnos, Sifnos, Milos, Kimolos and Folegandros.


About Serifos

 

The island of Serifos belongs to Western Cyclades and it is geographically found between Sifnos and Kythnos. The port of Serifos is Livadi, just 2 km from Chora. The white houses, the beautiful chapels and the narrow paths point out the Cycladic character of the island.

Serifos has many beaches and important sightseeing worth to visit. The most important sight is the Monastery of Taxiarches that was founded in the 17th century. Explore the island and you will meet many small chapels, built at breathtaking spots.

The most famous beaches of Serifos are Livadakia, Megalo Livadi and Koutalas. On a hill above Megalo Livadi, you will see the old mines that are not working today. However, from the late 19th century till 1964, most locals were getting their income from these mines.

Port description

A small and typical island of Cyclades, Serifos has kept a low profile in tourism. The main port of Serifos is Livadi, about 2 km from Chora, the capital of the island. The port receives ferries from Piraeus and islands of Western Cyclades (Kythnos, Sifnos, Milos, Folegandros and Kimolos).

Directions

There is a bus that connects the port with Chora, Koutalas, Megalo Livadi, the Monastery of Taxiarches and other places around the island. The bus station is located at the port where you cal also find the bus routes and times. There are also taxis and rental companies on the island.
