1. What do I need to know before using the Online Booking Engine?
If you want to travel to the Greek islands and book a ferry ticket with us, the only way to do this is through our Online Booking Engine. The engine is updated every day with new schedules of Greek ferries and the best possible prices for the routes of all ferry companies. Before you use the Online Booking Engine, you should know that the application only accepts reservations made more than 2 days before the departure date. In addition to this, the ferry schedules are added to the engine about two months before the departure. -
2. Which is the preferable ticket delivery option?
We suggest selecting either to pick up your tickets at the departure port or the e-ticket option for the ferry companies that offer it. The central port kiosks or port offices close to the ferry departure point are open at least one hour before departure so that passengers can collect their tickets.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to be sent the tickets by courier please keep in mind that in case of cancellation or amendment, according to the terms and conditions of all the ferry companies we need to hold the tickets at hand. That means you would need to send the tickets back to our office at your own cost in order to proceed accordingly. -
3. What about e-ticket options?
The e-ticket option is available for most Greek ferry companies. Yet, the online booking system of the few remaining Greek Ferry companies doesn't support the option of e-ticket. As you understand, this is not an issue of FerriesinGreece.com but of all online travel agencies in Greece. In order to travel, you must have the printed tickets at hand. After booking your ferry online, you can get the printed tickets by choosing one of the aforementioned options. -
4. How can I change my ferry tickets?
If you want to change any reservation you have made through our online booking system, you have to contact us by e-mail. You must give us the details of your ferry reservation (customer and reservation codes) and inform us of what changes you wish to make.
From that time on, we check the ferry schedules, and depending on the availability and ticket prices at that time, we try to make the required changes. You should know that, for every change, there is a fee to pay. This amendment fee is '12.30' 'EUR' (12.30 Euro).
If we have sent the first tickets to you by courier, the process begins from the start, so you have to pay the delivery costs again to send the tickets back to us (including the amendment fee).
If you have made your first journey and want to change the other multi-trips, then you have to contact the central office of your ferry company directly. -
5. What should I do if my trip is canceled due to bad weather?
In the case that your itinerary is canceled due to bad weather, you will be entitled to a refund of the ticket rate of the specific itinerary.
To receive this refund, we need to have the printed physical tickets in our hands, as that is in accordance with the terms and conditions of all ferry companies. That means that if you have not printed the specific tickets locally or received them by courier, you should send us an email to ask to proceed with this refund or to use the ticket rate to book alternative tickets upon availability.
If, on the other hand, the physical tickets are already printed and you have them in your hands, you will need to either send them back to our office for a refund or to proceed to a local central agency that will stamp your tickets as officially canceled. Depending on their policy, they will either give you back the stamped tickets in order to send them to our office for a refund from us, or they will keep them and refund you locally. They can also help you locally to change your tickets upon availability. If you send us back the tickets, please make sure to send them securely, as we cannot be held responsible in case they get lost. -
6. What should I do if my trip is canceled due to a strike?
In case of a strike, we always do our best to inform all the passengers as soon as there is a formal announcement from the Panhellenic Seamen's Federation or the ferry companies. We understand the inconvenience in such situations and always try our best and suggest available alternatives. In case a trip is canceled due to a strike, the ticket rate of the specific trip is fully refundable. In order to receive this refund, we need to have the printed physical tickets in our hands, as that is in accordance with the terms and conditions of all ferry companies. That means that if you have not printed the specific tickets locally or received them by courier, you should send us an email asking us to proceed with this refund or to use the ticket rate to book alternative tickets for you upon availability.
If, on the other hand, the physical tickets are already printed and you have them in your hands, you will need to either send them back to our office for a refund or to proceed to a local central agency that will stamp your tickets as officially canceled. Depending on their policy they will either give you back the stamped tickets in order to send them to our office for a refund from us, or they will keep them and refund you locally. They can also help you locally to change your tickets upon availability. If you send us back the tickets, please make sure to send them securely as we cannot be held responsible in case they get lost.
It is advisable to change your ferry tickets for an itinerary on the day before the strike, as itineraries on the days after the strike might also be affected by general changes in schedules. -
7. How do amendment and cancellation for already-issued tickets work?
In case you wish to cancel ferry tickets that have already been issued, you will be refunded according to the ferry company's cancellation policy. We must be notified in written form (by e-mail) at least 5 working days prior to the departure date; otherwise, we are not responsible if the cancellation is not possible due to lack of time. In case the passenger cancels the ferry booking, there is a cancellation fee of '5' 'EUR' (5 Euro).
In case you wish to amend ferry tickets that have already been issued, there is a charge of '12.30' 'EUR' (12.30 Euro) per reservation and we must be notified in written form (via e-mail) at least 5 working days prior to the departure date. The payment of '12.30' 'EUR' (12.30 Euro) must also be completed at least 5 working days before departure date and, if that is not possible for any technical reason, we should be notified on time to suggest an alternative solution. Our company will not be held responsible if the amendment is not completed due to receiving the payment too late or not being informed about the payment by email on time. You can only amend tickets of a ferry company to another date for the same ferry company and only if there is availability for the desired itinerary. You can also amend the tickets at any central office of a ferry company at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time.
We must be in possession of the original tickets in order to cancel or amend them, so you will have to send the tickets to us to make the required changes.
In case a passenger requests ticket cancellation and these tickets have been sent out by courier, then the courier fee is not refundable. Also, when asking for cancellation, the passenger must send us back the issued tickets. If we do not have the tickets at hand, the ferry company will not refund the tickets. Shipment expenses for sending us back the tickets are covered by the passenger. -
8. How can I get my tickets?
Once you have booked your ferry tickets through our Online Booking Application, there are the following ways to get them in your hands.

10. Can I book my ferry trip for the same day as my flight?
We always recommend booking your ferry trip at least one day before your flight date. Ferry itineraries are susceptible to delays due to unpredictable reasons, such as bad weather and mechanical problems of the vessel, or another rescheduling. -
11. How much does it cost to make a reservation through the Online Booking Engine?
Bank fees: Our bank fees are 1.7% of your total ticket price.

12. Why are there Handling Fees?
Most online travel agencies globally charge Handling Fees. This is in force so we can cover the expenses needed to offer you:
- Premium Service and assistance for whatever problem or question you may have.
- Information by email and SMS as soon as the ferry company notifies us of a canceled or changed itinerary to try to find the best and most convenient solution for you.
- Fast replies to your emails. -
13. The Online Booking Engine does not confirm my reservation. Why?
If the Online Booking Engine does not confirm your reservation, it is possible that the cabin/ seat you have chosen is not available. The application may show you that the seats are available at first, but when you decide to book them maybe someone else has done it before you. -
14. Why doesn't my credit card payment go through?
Sometimes it happens that our bank rejects your payment or that your bank does not allow it to be completed. In such cases, you receive an error message explaining that your payment has been declined. That can happen for different reasons, such as having entered an incorrect digit of your credit card details, not having enough credit on it, or simply that there was a connection error between the banks. We suggest trying again later making sure you enter all the credit card details correctly or try to use another credit card.
Please note that we only accept Visa and Mastercard.
Furthermore, we use a 3D-secured transactions system in order to avoid fraudulent transactions. If your credit card is not enabled to allow 3D-secured transactions, it can be rejected for security reasons especially if the attempt of payment is made outside Greek business hours. On such occasions, we recommend trying again during these hours or using a 3D-enabled credit card. If the problem persists, please contact your bank for further information. -
15. Can I make a reservation if I do not have a credit card?
You cannot use the Online System to book ferry tickets if you do not have a credit card. Instead, you can use our engine to get informed on the ferry schedules, the vessels and the ticket prices. -
16. What happens if the tickets sent by courier are lost?
Such cases are extremely rare. However, if this happens, the refund process is quite long and might take up to 2 months. Note that in case of loss or destruction of the envelope containing the ferry tickets by fault of the courier company, the refund is only the cost of the shipment and not the total ticket value. This is as per the worldwide terms and conditions of all courier companies and no further refund will be made by Ferriesingreece.com. -
17. Are Greek ferries accessible to disabled people?
Most ferries are accessible to disabled people as they are equipped with electric escalators or elevators from the ramp to the decks or cabins. Some vessels also offer special cabins for people with disabilities. If you have any special requirements or need special assistance please contact us before booking your trip. -
18. I want to travel with my pet. What do I need to know?
As every ferry company has a different pet policy, you should visit the relevant policy page prior to your booking to get properly informed. The policies include detailed information on traveling with pets as well as possible restrictions and conditions. -
19. Can I take my bicycle on the ferry?
On most conventional ferries with a garage, you can take your bike with you at no extra cost. You will be requested to place it in a designated area (usually in the garage). If you are traveling with a Flying Dolphin, a Catamaran, or other small Speed boats, please contact us before booking to check if the specific vessel allows bikes.
