Golden Star Ferries
Highly impressed by both voyages with Golden Star Ferries i.e. Super Ferry 2 from Rafina to Paros and then Super Runner from Naxos to Rafina.
1) Boarding, directions and luggage storage excellent;
2) Maintenance and cleanliness of vessels excellent;
3) Allocation of seating (Super Runner) and travel comfort excellent;
4) Vessel organisation and safety systems excellent;
5) Scheduling of service excellent.

Bad and Nauseating
Seemed very disorganized. It was hours late. We almost missed our shuttle back to the hotel. It was supposed to be an express and it was not. And it was so nauseating and limited seating only towards the back of the ship. Was not a smooth ride and over an hr late to the destination.

Comfrot Depends on vessel
My trip was from Crete, Heraklio > Santorini (Thira) and back with company: Golden Star Ferries / Vessel: Superferry.
Way to Santorini was okay, no dalays, comfort vessel, very kind staff, TV and socket for phone change if you need it.
On the way back there was 15 minutes delay and it was very cold at the boat.
I really tried to find more or less warm place, but it was very cold due to very strong air conditioning equipment.

Disappointment
We where informed that the ferry from Amorgos to Mykonos had mechanical problems and that's why our transport was totally canceled only a week before. This change costed us a last minute reservation in mykonos and a lost day of prepaid accommodation and car in amorgos. The company didn't have any intention of refunding us for anything, even for the cancelled ferry route we had to make a request in our respective travel agency. I wouldn't trust them again, more trouble than convenience. They have, maybe, the highest ferry prices in Greece for a very medium service.

Terrible
Me and my friends booked ferries from Rafina to Tinos and then back. The first one left the port one hour later than it supposed to. It was annoying but acceptable as we didnt need to be in a rush. But the second one from Tinos to Rafina came 2 HOURS later and I missed my flight from Athens home. Of course I didnt hear any excuses, only thing I ve heard was : "It is normal in Greece". No guys, it is not normal, people should trust your service when planning holidays. THIS would be normal.

Golden Star is not good
I was pleased with 2/3 of my ferry rides. The ferry I took from Rafina to Mykonos was with Golden Star Ferries. I was very unhappy with this ferry. It did not allow passengers to be outside on the deck of the boat. It felt like an airplane with seats squished together, and the snacks aboard were expensive. The other two ferry companies (Sea Jets and Blue Star Ferries) used were delightful.

Don't book with Golden ferries. They are every day delayed. This is the information that we got from a restaurant at the port. Really bad service!

Why not give access to the internet for free and the bar on any of the boats, I couldn't get a glass of white or red wine because there was only beer, and you have to go to the bar to be serviced because no one comes to the tables. Then the food remains to be desired, there is nothing to eat, why have a menu if you do not have anything that is available?
It was very hot on board no air conditioning was on, except the last boat because it was full.
The staff is kind.
From our experience "First class" wasn't first at all!

2 hours out of schedule on a declared 3:15 run
We took a Golden Ferry II from Santorini to Heraklion. The voyage should take 3:15. Actually, it took 4:25.
Nobody announced any information about it.
Instead of 10:20 pm we arrived at 00:20 pm.
They should provide a real-time to let people plan their journey. But who cares?!
I would not recommend this company at all.

Cancelled ferries
We booked using this site and no fault of their own twice our ferries were cancelled. Once we had to pay for a more expensive boat at the port and once they change us to a later ferry on a much older boat that rocked the whole time and took double the time to get to our destination. I understand that this is not the booking companies fault but no communication from the ferry companies were given to us until we arrived at the port where we had to join long lines in the hot heat to find a solution. Very stressful and unpleasant on vacation.

Bad business, bad safety
Traveling for Mykonos to Rafina with 2 stops on the way, in the last one the ferry delayed 2 hours due to overbooking car spaces. Some people for absolutely no reason got left outside, others lost their planes, everyone got delayed. They even had the audacity to put the blame on the drivers and parking assistants for "missmanaging the available space". People lost it as soon as they heard that since most locals that take this Sunday trip often said that this happens almost every time. I higly advise against this company if another alternative is available.

Unfriendly staff
Extremely unfriendly staff who repeatedly asked me in a rude way to leave areas of the ferry that were freely accessible and not marked as a special area. When I just wanted to take a quick look at the map of the café, I was instructed in a degrading way to leave the "Business Class area" immediately, without the info where I might get something to drink. Nice, courteous approach looks different. In addition, noisy construction work while traveling. Next time another ferry company.

Cancelled Ferry = Missed Plane Flight
We had a ferry trip from Mykonos to Athens that was scheduled the night before out flight back to USA. We downloaded our boarding passes, went to the port but the Ferry wasn't there! We ended up missing our flights home and had to buy new tickets for the following day $1000 each ($3000 total) We were told that Golden Star Ferries would reimburse us since we weren't notified in advance of the cancellation but they will not respond to any emails or letters from my lawyer. My last ditch effort is to leave a bad review in hopes that someone in power gets in contact with me...

Kindly note that in case of canceled itinerary as in accordance with our terms and conditions that you accepted before proceeding to this booking the refund amount you are entitled to is the total ticket rate. This has already been refunded to you with the replacement tickets you received at Sea and Sky travel in Mykonos as Golden Star ferries has informed us.

You can check the mobile number you provided on your booking confirmation email.

I traveled with the SupperRunner to Ios and back and I was pleased with the accommodations and the staff but the trip was about 1 1/2 to 2 hours longer with no real reason like weather or other delays and that can be a problem especially when you arrive really late (11pm) in Rafina and have to drive to Athens (Chalandri) to meet with the AirBnb apartment owners to get the keys and find something to eat. Other than that my experience was good and I will definitely book my island travels with them again.
