Though Igoumenitsa itself does not have an airport, it is connected by bus to the Ioannina National Airport “King Pyrrhus”, which is located around 83 kilometers away and receives mainly domestic flights from Athens. Itineraries are operated by the Ioannina KTEL company and the ride lasts around 90 minutes.

Moreover, it is possible to reach Igoumenitsa via suburban KTEL buses from the two major Greek cities, Athens and Thessaloniki. Of course, you can also drive to Igoumenitsa from all over mainland Greece.

Ferry Connections

Igoumenitsa is well-connected to the island of Corfu with at least 18 daily routes, available throughout the year. Moreover, it is regularly linked to the serene island of Paxi; during the summer months, in particular, there are two ferry connections per day between Igoumenitsa and Paxi.

On the other hand, the routes between Italy and Igoumenitsa are ideal for travelers from Italy and Central Europe wishing to reach mainland Greece while taking their vehicle/camper van with them.

What types of ferries travel there?

Routes from Igoumenitsa to Corfu and Paxi are operated by conventional vessels belonging to Kerkyra Seaways and Kerkyra Lines.
