Types of ferries

The Mykonos - Naxos route is mainly operated by high-speed vessels. In addition, a conventional ferry also operates the routes once a day during the high season.
Conventional ferries are larger and can carry much more passengers and vehicles. Their tickets are more affordable.
On the other hand, high-speed ferries are smaller; hence they move faster and need less time to go from one place to another.
Note that they are affected by windy weather (which means frequent delays), their tickets are more pricey, and some do not have a garage for vehicle transporation.

Types of seats

Seats in the World Champion Jet

Seats in the World Champion Jet by Seajets

The most common seat type is the standard seat, which is suitable for economy traveling. In conventional ferries, the standard seats are not numbered, and you will have to board the ship in time to find one in a lounge you like or on the deck. You will be responsible for keeping your seat during the whole trip.
Numbered seats are air-type seats located in a separate and quieter lounge. Those seats are reserved throughout the trip.
Lastly, the business or VIP seats are the most expensive, as they are located in a luxury lounge. They are the most comfortable option, too.
Note that high-speed vessels only boast numbered seats, so booking a standard (economy) seat in such a ferry comes with a numbered seat.

From Tourlos, your ferry will head towards the port of Naxos, which is located in the northern part of the main town, Chora.

During the summer, congestion is common in both the port of Mykonos and Naxos alike. Make sure to arrive at Tourlos at least 1 hour in advance. Having your tickets in hand (or an e-ticket) is also recommended.

Luggage policies are usually flexible when it comes to traveling by ferry.
For most companies, the limit is 40 kg or 0.5 cubic meters, with no definite number of bags per person. A designated luggage storage room is available for your suitcases. You can also keep your belongings next to you in the seating area or on the deck.
It would be prudent not to leave any valuable items unsupervised.

To park comfortably, you have to arrive at the port at least 1 hour before the departure.
You will not have access to your car during the trip for safety reasons.
Note: Many car rental companies do not allow customers to ferry their vehicles. We recommend avoiding purchasing a vehicle ticket before contacting your car rental company.
